She Climbed Out!

Lana's been waking up in the middle of the night screaming so we decided to try and let her scream herself back to sleep. The other night we did just that. Her screams are quite hilarious from a third person perspective as she stops screaming to yell baby words at us like she's using very explicit nouns. Not three minutes go by and we hear her screams go across the room and pounding at her door. I ran in there to find that she had climbed out of her crib uninjured and furious. Her doctor suggested we put on a mattress on the ground and close her door. Like that's going to work. I can just see her trying to put herself back to sleep when she can walk around. Ha!

Stuffed animals

Lana loves her stuffed animals. She likes to carry them one by one to a new special place. I found them in the bathroom and all facing the window at different times.

Saint Patrics Day

I made corn beef and hash for the first time because Jason likes it on St. Patric's Day. I usually like eating green spaghetti and pistachio salad;) Some other time....

Blanket Fort

I have many found memories of making forts in the house with couch cushions, blankets and chairs. Now I can create those memories for Lana.

Amber Feeney-Renolds

Today while I was on facebook a name popped up, Amber Feeney-Renolds. She passed away a few months ago. Amber was my friend during High School and though we lost contact with each other until the year before her death I truly miss her. Today I missed her more than ever, so I visited her facebook page. I was surprised to see it still up, but even more so to see that people are still commenting on her wall. It broke my heart again to think of my friend that is gone. I had to write on her page-everyone else was. And you know-It was amazingly therapeutic. Amber was on facebook so much when she was alive, it was almost as though if I typed something I knew she would read it. And that was truly comforting. I am so thankful to Heavenly Father for letting me know all about His plan for us and how we can all see each other in Heaven again someday. I know that when I see Amber again she will be beautiful and so full of life and happiness. And that is much more comforting.

Dairy

So, since Jason and I had terrible cases of earaches as children I was oversensitive about Lana's ears and did everything I could to prevent her from getting one. So far it all worked, like no sippy cups or dairy. Only, last week I gave in started using whole milk in my cereal. I felt bad that Lana was so small and all the recommendations for breast feeding mom's to drink so much milk persuaded me to give in. Not even a week goes by and she gets an ear infection! Idk what the real deal is. The way I see is that children who drink a lot of milk grow tall and get sick ears. Or, they are small and have healthy ears. What would you think is better????

If you fall off a horse.....

Last night Lana was rocking on her horse and it rocked so hard she flew backward then over corrected and flew forward off the horse. She landed on her face. I totally thought, "oh boy, here comes the screams." But that little stinker just hoped back on!!!!

Lana's first pair of Jellies

Lana loves her new shoes. She took them out of the box at the store and I had to put them on right when we got home.

Lana's first ride in the forward facing position

Last Sunday was Lana's first time in a forward facing car seat! She's still on 18.5 lbs but she's way too tall for her backwards car seat. When we took off driving her eyes got real big and after a couple minutes she started screaming! That's her way of telling us when she's really excited.
Car rides are usually fun with Lana. All I have to do is turn up the music. She sings along very loudly and giggles at herself. She loves every U2 song that comes on-her all-time fav-With or Without You.
Now that I can see her It's hard to keep my eyes on the road.......You know, in-between the lyrics she even bobs her head and moves her arms to the beat. Ahhh! I LOVE this baby!!!

Enough with the breast feeding all ready!

This past week I've summoned up the courage to resist feeding Lana in the middle of the night when she wakes up and from feeding her on demand during the day (I feed her every 4 hrs during the day now). I know most of you think I'm silly to let her go on so long like this, but she's soooo tiny! Since she wont eat normal food I thought the only way to fatten her up was to feed her all the breast milk she wanted. However, I was beginning to realize that if breast milk was not readily available she'd be more willing to try new foods.
So, at the end of the first week of her new regimen this is what's happened:
1. She can sleep through the night until 7 am! I'm a happy mom:)
2. Despite her rumbling tummy she vehemently refuses to eat ANY food in-between breast feeding.
3. She is the most stubborn, strong willed, hardheaded toddler I've ever seen!
4. She is most definitely my mother's grandchild;)  (for all those who know my mother, #3 explains her)
5. I now know what her tantrums are like......:)

Facebook is really annoying me

I've decided I really don't like facebook. So, for all those who really care about the on goings for my little family I will try to do this blogging thing. I don't know if I understand it yet, but hopefully I'll get used to it.

For starters...

Today I have come to conclusion that my baby girl, Lana, is the most peculiar baby I've ever known. I can no longer go to books, mothers, or pediatricians for answers to her bizarre behavior. So there's only one thing left to do, blog about it.
